Man, oh man. I haven’t posted anything on my blog since July 31st.

As John Lennon said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” – and this summer was definitely no different.

I feel like I’ve been on a whirlwind since I traveled out to California last summer for the San Diego Comic-Con. That was a busy week followed by the trip out in August to the Chicago Wizard World Convention where I was stationed at the Shooting Star Comics booth to promote our products and talent.

It was great seeing old familiar faces and meeting new folks along the way. While each convention experience has its good, bad and ugly moments – let me just say that I’m happy to be home and I’m trying to settle down a bit and get my life back in order to some extent. Autumn is here and Halloween is right around the corner. It’s hard to believe how fast the days have flown by lately.

As you read this, you’re catching me in a very reflective moment where there is transition going on in my life. I’ve taken some time off from writing in a blog or updating my website these past couple of months. I’ve been busy at home and work while also assessing some personal things going on in my life.

Writing in a personal blog is tough for me because I’m growing more and more defensive about my personal life. I’m being more secretive in a sense and I no longer desire to be so accessible to anyone or everyone. Various circumstances over the past few years have led me to this point to be guarded about myself and my loved ones.

For professional and business reasons, more and more I have to censor my own private thoughts and keep them to myself as it could cause conflict or tension with business associates. I’m finding that for my own well-being and that of my family, more and more I’m keeping our private life and my more controversial thoughts…well…private.

So forgive me if I keep some matters to myself and don’t open up on all topics under the sun. It is hard to comment on all of this without going in to detail. Perhaps at a later date, I can explain some of this.

For now?

I’m alive and kicking. I’m working hard. I’m writing. I’m doing a lot of drawing. I’m living and I’m trying to find hours to sleep.

Sorry this may seem like a bummer of a blog entry.

Hope all is well and I’ll be back soon with more focused entries.

Sorry to hear about the conflicts in your life, Scott. I've known few people as obsessively diplomatic as you, so the stresses you're under must be pretty significant if you're blogging about it, however obliquely.

If you ever need to vent to someone "outside the loop" you know how to reach me.

Thanks, Jayme.

Y'know... I always wondered if anyone ever really reads what I post here in my blog. Thanks for the offer. I might be taking you up on that much sooner than you think.

Best,
Scott
